Bus was to leave from the Molly Malone statue at 8:15 AM, translated that meant that I had to catch the 7:15 AM bus 37A from UCD to get there in time. I planned ahead, had fruit in a bag for breakfast, got the bus, got there, saw lots of groups come and go butContinue reading “Day trip to Wicklow Mountains”

lunch in Dublin
Wandering around in St. Stephen’s Park, through the shopping center layered in white gingerbread trims, and found lunch near the Gaiety Theatre in the Temple Bar area, Sheehan’s. I had a Guiness beef pie with chips and a glass of Shiraz. Satisfied me for the entire day.
Sticky Toffee Pudding
This pudding is served with whipped cream. I was not disappointed by the Brass Pub at the Talbot Hotel. The pudding came with a tiny little cup of real whipped cream topped by a strawberry, the pudding topped with a sauce, a scoop of Irish original vanilla ice cream, and a scoop of bilberries (foundContinue reading “Sticky Toffee Pudding”
Bus Travel into Center City
A true Irish breakfast is to remember a life time. It has tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, fruit, wonderful Canadian type bacon, sausages, tasty eggs and hot buns with room temperature butter, real Irish butter. This morning’s breakfast at the hotel was not that way. It was a buffet Irish breakfast with a large tour group whoseContinue reading “Bus Travel into Center City”
Irish Journey, May 28, 2017
Welcome to the travel blog of my Irish Journey. Atlanta traffic made me close my eyes and take a walk under the trees in my back yard. I looked carefully at the flowers blooming in the side bed near the deck. I walked through each area of the yard looking at the grown and thinkingContinue reading “Irish Journey, May 28, 2017”
Partings in Croatia
Saying goodbye can mean many things when one travels. I said goodbye to the students at the dinner on our last evening. I said goodbye to the people in the hotel who made it possible to teach the course so smoothly in Zagreb. I said goodbye, temporarily to Zagreb on my way to Rijeka. InContinue reading “Partings in Croatia”
Rijeka, Croatia
Excitement was in my every fiber about leaving Zagreb and going for 2 weeks to the sea, the Adriatic Sea. I had seen it from the bus on a weekend trip to Pula, but now I was going to actually go there and stay by the sea. I had a room in a stone houseContinue reading “Rijeka, Croatia”
Catch Up
Writer’s note to readers: First, there are photos but the internet capabilities will not let me pull them off my phone. Photos will come and I will mark the places where they should go. Three weeks in Zagreb with 12 students and a program assistant was busy, overwhelming at times, but productive. I got amazingContinue reading “Catch Up”
Sunday Morning Mass
One of the students who had arrived early wanted to go to mass with me on Sunday morning. Though I am not Catholic, I attend a church when I travel to be more immersed in the culture of the area I am visiting. The student met me in the lobby. It was pouring rain soContinue reading “Sunday Morning Mass”
The Piano Woman
The students had not yet arrived so I had an early dinner and a glass of Croatian wine (Zlatan I Plavac…I think) in the hotel bar. This place is nice with flowers and up scale Westin Hotel sort of furniture and trimmings. As I was finishing my wine, a small woman in a red coatContinue reading “The Piano Woman”
