Prepare for Summer Travel

Semester teaching is slowing down. Today is the last day of classes for me. I finish up grading and then tidying up a bit, not much, I like a lived in look office. The computer has been serviced and all viruses have been eliminated. I am ready to write and to travel. My first trip will be down the Antebellum Trail on May 10-11 for an article on experiencing Southern hospitality off the grid. My writing friend, Jane, will join me. We are on assignment to write this piece. I think about my Southern roots, my ancestors, my growing up in the South and raising a daughter in the South as part of my DNA. That said, I feel that I and my daughter are women of the new South. In this first trip, I hope to redefine what being a Southern woman is all about. Join me as I begin.
