My uncle died last week. Mama died a year ago on Thanksgiving Day. My daddy died 29 years ago on Halloween. The holidays are not a merry time for the family; yet, as I sit and think, I have to admire my aunt’s method of coping. She says whenever she gets weepy over losing her husband, she just thinks about something they did together that was a memory and she is better. She says she has 52 years of those and that should get her through the rest of her life. I am thankful for my aunt’s advice. I will look for the good memories and let them fill my holidays as I travel to New York to make more memories with my daughter and her family. Happy Thanksgiving.
