Second Week at Oxford

My day starts with coffee made in the French press. Then I walk 15 minutes to the bus stop on Woodstock and take the bus into town centre. I then walk about two blocks to Trinity, get my classroom key from the porters in the lodge and join the students for breakfast. Class is for two hours in an ancient, wood paneled room with a fireplace, piano and small lift that opens into the garden on the back of the building. I don’t have to climb stairs with my computer. We had a class excursion into London on Tuesday and visited the Guardian newspaper offices. The editor of the global edition met with us and we had a lively question and answer period. The students were impressed with the amount of transparency offered by the newspaper and we learned that the Guardian has opened offices in New York because one third of their web readership is in the United States. I already read the Guardian on my Ipad, so I guess I am one of them. I offer a photo of the students in the offices as evidence we were there.
